Glad you all like it - I'm really enjoying it thus far. I just contacted the Classic Center and should have my build sheet and info by this Friday according to the gal I'm talking with.

I'm digging more and more into the history on the car and that's what I'm really enjoying most. It's been in 2 shows (Concours & an MBCA show), both of which it was 1st place, I've got what appears to be what would have been the original 'window sticker', and invoices for the last 5 years of service - which isn't a lot considering it's age, but the shop that did the work is local and gives pretty much took care of all things in need of replacing - such as calipers, pads and rotors, bushings, and other suspension parts that were worn out. Also, in the trunk was the original MBZ tool kit and 1st aid kit - all of which is in German. Really cool stuff.

I'm also working with a company right now in reverting the stereo back to original - so that's my first project aside of all the fluid maintenance and a good detailing of the car.

I always thought that the instrument cluster was one of the most handsome on any model! The early vintage clusters (1964 220SE) were surrounded by wood.

I see you already put the car on sale: AutoTrader Classics - 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Coupe White 6 Cylinder Automatic 2 wheel drive | Import Classics | Fresno, CA

$30.000 OBO on AutoTrader Classics and $35.000 on a Los Angeles Craigslist add that has now expired.

Even if I find the price high (you can find excellent 3.5s at that price) I sincerely wish you sell it around that price. This would mean there is a demand for beautiful unmolested low original miles coupes. I think the current market does not reflect their true value. In a few years may be?

Keep us posted on how the sale goes!

my heart still goes pit a pat over 111w coupes I have had 6 over the years
and just sold both of my 68 loved 250' coupes as I am no longer able to do all the
service work myself. it was a sad parting but I have had 40 years of owning
the beloved mercedes: 6 coupes, 8 220 sedans, 1 190sl, 3 250-280 sedans including a marvelous 4.5 sel, 2 300sd's, 2 300 123's, and a fantastic 1961 300d 4dr hard top I
took to Peble Beach and showed with my other Bay area MBZ Star club members.
I now have 1 300tdt I gave my wife for valentines day 2002, a stunning gold 420SEL
and a 81 300SD daily driver. you are in for quite a ride and are in great company. Congratulations and I hope you enjoy Mercedes as much as I have in my last 50
