Greetings from from Thailand!

hello everyone, my name is Tamm and i'm from Bangkok, Thailand. i've been reading this forum for a big while, even before i get a chance to buy a vintage mercedes.

after a half a year of searching for W111 sedan in good condition, i finally found this 220s.

the car has a W110 200 engine in it (it was swapped by the previous owner because the stock engine was seized) and only its wheels, and center rearview mirror aren't original, they are from W116 i think?

the optional 300se trims are original but i'm not so sure if Bosch spotlights was there in the first place or not.(i plan to remove them)

anyway, i really learn a lot from this forum, both before & after i have this car.

so thank you for sharing these useful knowledge.

cheers,

Tamm

Very sweet! Welcome to the forum. I don't believe that the fog lights are original. They are at least mounted too high. Some others with more knowledge will chime in.

The side mouldings are also not original and of course you've already noted the wheels are from a later model.

I bet you look pretty stylish behind the wheel. Like a photographer should.

thank you very much for a warm welcome!

anyway, about the side mouldings, thanks for pointed it out, did you mean only the lower part of the whole set of trims? (excuse me for my english :P ) because i was informed by people from a classic cars club here that the trims was a special option back then and is original, the only different between an optional trims for 220s and stock trims for 300se is that the lower part of 300se will be wider, some restorer here even asked me on buying the whole set if i want to remove it when i repaint the car. that's why i believe it's original.

but who knows, maybe i'm wrong :P

oh, and can i use VIN number to check this? because i also saw many examples and old pictures of 220s in thailand with this trims, or could it possible that this was just an option from dealer in Thailand?

Well, maybe I'm wrong, too. It's just that I've never seen this before on a fintail. As I said, people here on the forum with more knowledge than me will give the definitive answer. It's very striking and in my opinion, appropriate for the car.

interior shot as requested, this one was taken from the day i first saw this car.

theres a few (or many) things that need to be done in it

dome light is original but now in a bad shape as well as the steering wheel. center mirror, as i mentioned before, is from the other model. the radio is obviously non-original and has some electrical problems which was once drained all my battery. so now i took it off for good. will find an old becker for it and restore what need to be done for an interior after i got all the important mechanics in this car fixed.

since i'm living in thailand where it is very hot during..... almost the whole year! we need air-con before it was even become a factory standard, so in this car, judging by it's look, i think an air-con was made in japan somewhere between 70's or 80's. it is still working, but noisy tho

oh, for the last thing, the speedometer got stuck at 60km/h
