How to remove dashboard in w108

Anyone out there knowing how to remove the instruments in the w108. I need to get the clock and speedometer out to replace the lightbulbs. I'w wondering if I will have to remove the leather on the top of the dashboard? In that case, are there any clever tricks to prevent the 40 year old leather from cracking? I will be very gratefull for any help!

Instrument is removed by undoing plastic nut on the back side and pushing it out. Make sure to use towels to protect column jacket and wood around opening.

Also, be very careful with the high pressure oil line that attaches to the back of the instrument cluster. The speedo cable is not that long, so you may want to loosen it before pushing the cluster out.
