The extra wide 18" wheels use approx 11mm ofset. The real question is will the tires rub on the front fenders and suspension components.

Which W108 do you refer?

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Wheel size and offset are two different things. I have 16" wheels on my '72 280se 4.5. They were too large of an offset, so I used spacers from H&R. They fit fine in the wheelwells. Look at Cox Groups 111 chassis with 18" to see that anything is possible.

offset varies with the width of the rim. I believe that stock 5.5 inch wide are 31 offset, while 15x7 are 25 offset.

Offset is relative to the center of the rim. So it depends on what you have to clear and on which side. You have more space towards the outside, so the wider the wheel the smaller the offset.
