220 Fuel Pump Issues, please help..

Yesterday my 1965 220SE starting choking while driving, turns out the fuel pump needed to be replaced. I replaced it now I can't get any gas to come thru into the pump or carb... I tried gas in the carb, I tried Kragan starter fluid, I tried putting gas in the lines and the pump.. If anyone has any experience or advice I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

No fuel

Yes we have experience.

Start with a clean fuel tank,
pull the bottom drain plug/strainer and report back.

There is a specific procedure for this fuel problem diagnosis and solution.

Maybe the pump is wired backwards.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Fuel Pump

Thank you for the advice! It turns out the re-conditioned fuel pump I bought was bunk so I bought a pierlburg fuel pump. Once I replaced it I still couldn't get gas to come up through the lines so I jacked up the back of the car and pulled the gas manually with a siphon hose which also pulled all the air out. I wasn't sure if the new pump would work being the push rod was diferent from the lever but it turns out to be ok. From the point of the tank to the the fuel pump it's a 5" climb, not only did I have to fill the tank but I had to get the back of the car fairly high off the ground in order to get a constant flow.
