280S Dash Removal

I need to remove my dash cluster on my 68 28S to fix the odometer and check the heater blower because of a grinding noise. My Chilton 59-70 manual deals with mechanical repair but not the interior. I prefer not to just start removing screws and knobs, because, well, I've tried that in the past on other vehicles.

Does anyone know of an internet source that deals with removal of the dash or of a source for related print manual?

This website is great How to Repair Your Broken Odometer but it deals with a newer model which is quite different from mine.

Thanks. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Do a general search throughout this forum - there are a couple threads on removing the dash or replacing the heater blower motor (a considerable job).

If you want access for just the gage cluster, you'll have to remove a nylon nut holding it in place (back of the cluster, under the dash). After that, the whole assembly pulls out. Be careful not to damage the oil pressure sending tube.

Just a little addition to Grubeguys dash removal instructions, unless you have minuscule hands and forearms, be sure to loosed the hand brake bracket. This was a small detail commonly left out that drove me crazy for a while, until I looked in my factory manual!
