Where is the overflow tank? (photo)

Isn't it supposed to be just to the left of the photo, mounted on the fender? What gives? I've seen a few that are like this!

There isn't one, notice the cap on the top of the radiator. An overflow tank would have the cap.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Right you are, sir!

So the rubber hose that goes from the neck of the radiator filler towards the left of the photo, does it connect to anything? What purpose does it serve? Wouldn't that prevent the system from being pressurized?

If the radiator cap opens, because the pressure is too high, coolant will flow through the tube to the ground. This can also happen if you overfill the radiator.

Thanks! So essentially it is just for overfills and emergency type situations? Is there a hole that it goes into to pour outside, straight down?

Thanks again!

There is a hole in the neck of the radiator, above where the radiator cap seals the cooling system, the rubber line is connected on that hole. The radiator cap is spring loaded and designed to open at a certain pressure (1 or 1.2 bar). If it opens, the pressure gasses or coolant will flow through the hole and through the rubber line unto the ground.
