Nice car. What kind of mechanical problems?
Overheating, coolant dissappearing.
I am quite a ways along and will post some more pictures. I have the head off, and took it in for pressure testing, which it failed. I am trying to find a good head, but that is turning out to be difficult.
Well, difficult to find at a reasonable price. One place wanted $1500 for a used head that would still need to be rebuilt! Gack.
Brakes are stuck on, but that is an easy fix. I have all the parts, and will finish that when I have the motor running again.
Body is in great shape, as well as the interior. Zero rust. I have only found a couple of spots were there was surface rust! (Where the paint was broken.) No rotted panels or holes! ( I have a couple of old cars that have holes, where I needed to weld in some panels. Will not have to do that here...)
If I can't find a good head, I may look at a motor swap. Two options here:
1. Find a period correct motor, such as the 230 or 220 motor (Six)
2. Swap in a modern 16V motor such as the C-class engine. I have a line on a low mileage motor and trans for $1000. Lots cheaper than the head.
That said, I would still like to keep this with the original motor.
