Thanks. I originally was going to use the Megasquirt 2 (MS2), but the mechanic that did the install used a microsquirt which is essentially a MS2 but has two ignition amplifiers built in.
So, to answer your question, you need one that controls fuel and ignition for the C230 motor, which is either MS2 or 3 or the microsquirt. The Microsuirt is probably a little easier to install due to it's small form factor and built in ignition amps. I like the MS2 due to being able to modifiy it if needed as it's an open case design. I haven't looked in great detail to see all the differences.
If i had the 72 coupe, I would look at the M104 engine from the E320. I would have prefered this engine, but it would have been a tough fit, as the W110 was designed around a 4 cylinder engine.
