Adjusting vent windows on '72 280 SEL

Both the drivers side and the passenger side vent windows have wind noise and whistling coming from then. Can they be adjusted to tighten them up? I'd like to know before I start tearing the door panels off.

They sure can! You'll find a screw adjustment on a linkage.

Take off the door panel and you'll see the adjuster. If the linkage is made to be a little longer, the fit will be tighter.

Thank you all for your help. My '72 280 SEL is absolutely super. I replaced the heater blower motor, got the clock repaired, refinished all the woodwork, repaired the windshield washer system, replaced the injectors and sensors, and finally figured out what was causing the smoke now and then - valve seals, which also have been replaced. The car now looks and drives like a new car, and it constantly turns heads. As someone who has collected once "out of favor" Packards which have now appreciated nicely, I think the '72 280 SEL will see the same thing happen. I couldn't have done it without the help I received on this board.
