I think it was a special order

I've got the full history on this car. It's a one owner from an old lady. if they don't make a factory bench, This must be a special order. When I bought this car it only had 65000 miles. I just can't see that sweet old lady replacing the seats in her brand new benz with a seat from another with the same color interior. But I guess anything is possible? Thanks 4 the input.

That makes sense but I also can't see that sweet Lady ordered a bench and paid for the special order a lot of money ,pretty strange.

almost figured out

I,m 99 percent sure this is factory, #1 They are installed perfectly match the interior perfectly. #2 There is a support built into the floor that runs the lenth of the bench, I don't think buckets have this. I will check my parts car this weekend (69 280se w108). can any one confirm sooner? support under front of seat running from one side to the other/ cannot access under seat from front? will take a pic shortly. #3 similar to #1 The shop would have to be divine to pull off a job like this. going to take pic now.

full story

I bought this car about a year ago from the ACS (american cancer) for $500. no bs. At the time it was running on three cylinders had a tank full of varnish. judging by recipts had only traveled 300 miles in the last 7 years. rear calipers were locked. had a modern electric fuel pump gerry rigged in the rear. at the time had 10 cars but needed this one bad. I sent Ip and injectors for rebuild, new bosch fuel pump, calipers/pads/hoses in rear. tune up parts like cap/rotor/points, cleaned/ lined tank and was off.
The 300 miles ago reciept was a full rebuild on tranny.
only problem left tranny shifts late like a race car, I cant get it to shift early like a cruiser. the first shift is alittle late second shift is always late 42 mph every time. I've adjusted the linkage it doesnt seem to help. whoops sorry to cross thread you guys.

i'd love to had a bench front w/ a shifter on the column in my car. It would make the drive-in movies a lot more enjoyable .

Yes, I have seen one too in Jakarta about 14 years ago. I used to lived there and drove a 1971 280s and that time was looking for a better cyl head and came across this 250s with bench seat. I think it was white car and green interior and late 60' car, after that I always thought that early 108 has bench seat but I guess not always the case, eh?

I still missed driving my maroon 280s sold it after I moved to Calgary, Canada and that was 12 years ago.

FWIW, I saw a W116 with a column-mounted shifter in a junkyard during the late '90s. Can't remember if the car had bench seats or not, but I don't think it did. Seeing the column shifter was bizarre enough.
