66 250S Carb Q

I have a front carb that is a total basket case and I'm having difficulty finding a replacement (other than $600+ for a rebulit one). I found one recently off of a 65-68 230S. Are they the same carb? What's a good price for a non-rebuilt one?

600 is alot of money. you shouldnt pay more than 250-300 to get it rebuilt. i know the carb rebuilders in ontario charge that

He said $600 for a new entirely rebuilt carb, different than his current carb.

As far as I know there only is like two possibilities of carbs for a mercedes of that era, solex and zenith. The auto parts sites list your car as having a Zenith 35/40 INAT, very common mine has that too.
Edit: The 1965-1968 230(S for 66 & 67) is also listed as using Zenith Carbs!

Zenith:

Does that look like it?

That guy is offering both of those for $750 btw, Home.

Rebuild kit for Zenith 35/40 INAT, Your Parts Search Returned 1 Part(s).

I paid $50 at a junkyard for one... but he didn't really care about the car and it was sitting on top of a van which I had to climb to remove the carb...

WOW! Those are nice! They might just be too nice to install on the car! LOL

Actually I found a set on eBay off of a 67 220. Rebuilt the one I needed, using only the jets off of my original carb. The car starts and idles great now.

However, I still have the stalling problem I sought to remedy by replacing the bad carb. The car gets to somewhere just under 80C an the engine dies. I thought it was vapor-locking near the thermostat housing so I wrapped it in a small hose with reflective tape on the outside hoping that would help. Not a bit...

any ideas what could be causing it?

Unfortunately, I have that exact same problem starts pretty good and idles great while cold, gets warm and stalls out if I don't keep my foot on the pedal. Been having to drive it two foot since I've had it...

Would love to know what is wrong...
