This guy likes to jack threads with nonsense. Anyways OP, buy what you can afford and in good condition, be glad you can afford exactly what you like then enjoy it. If it goes up in value then that's the bonus for you. Later.

That looks pretty straight, I don't see why you realistically couldn't get $4k for that? I bought a 72 two years ago for $1k and I've put about $2k into it and have been offered $5k for it. It's just a matter of finding the right person with the expendable cash to buy a low MPG car!

I've owned five Mercedes so far and I've never bought one with the thought of how much they might eventually be worth.
I guess I've just looked at the beauty of the beast and said I'll have that one, mostly I don't ever want to sell them, but sometimes you have to and then it's like party with an old friend.
The 108 still turns heads.
Forget the money part, just enjoy the ride.

Rmilton- I liked your comments, so true. I'm trying to sell my 108 right now over in the Kansas City area. . The motor feels like its never going to giv out, and it squeels tires no problem!! So, with that being said, is ANYONE looking for a 108 that hauls ass, needs new leather, and 2 fixed surface rust spots (this is if you want a perfect 108), and a painted right fender. I've got service records showing that it only has 60,000 miles, and tons of new parts are underneath the hood. Runs awesome!! Let me know folks so you can steal this from me for a whopping $3,800.00----I feel like its worth so much more!!

TeKrekka- UNderstands the market value for these cars I'm not arguing saying $9,000.00 was a bit ridiculous, or a lot. ha! I'm saying you never know. Buying any vehicle is an emotional feeling (to most), no matter what the cost if you have it, and like it.. Shall I continue? HA!

First of all, who is going to argue that having a 72 with an engine that only has 60,000 miles on it is bad. Transmission shifts into gears like its brand new, breaks work great, and the whole fuel system works awesome. Everything under the hood of my car is virtually brand new.
