Lightbulb Why are all the "oldies" lumped here in one big hole?

ooh dare i rock the boat!!

Dear moderators and members,

I admit it, I'm a frquently reading, rarely contributing member of this forum, therefore my opinion I'm sure will be of little weight. I therefore encourage forum members of higher stature to commenton this thread.

I gain a wealth of knowledge from my fellow R129, and W163 owners here, very regularly. Especially with the 129 of which there are so few in Australia.

I have just been searching for info on 111 and 112 coupes, and i discovered i needed to go to the "Vintage" forum to find things.

My I ask, Why does the forum not have groups for older cars? 116's? 111, 112's and 113's? how good would it be to have a 196 forum where us jealous folk could read about what problems people are having with their million dollar gullwings!

I know this would cause the forum to double in size, but so many of us I'm sure have a modern daily driver and an old sunday driver (or dream of having one in my case) and I believe this owuld add so much more breadth to this great forum.

Maybe i'm going over old ground, but it's just my 2 cents worth!

There needs to be a forum for the W108/109 chassis.

Some wish there was one for the W115 but most of the W115 related questions pertain to the diesel models, which the W123 forum does a pretty good job of answering since the majority of members there (myself included) own diesels.

That's my 2 cents.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

For these Forum wouldn't be enough owners to generate traffic so it would take for ever, if at all, to get questions answered.

I agree. If we break down the forums to a specific model some models will be overlooked or one will need to go to several forums to get a answer. Most of the older models are similar in many ways and answers will apply to several models. On a 111 forum I subscribe to at another site there may not be a post for several weeks.

If you google the chassis numbers, you will find specialty forums or owner's clubs for them.

The W108/109 are the most common "vintage chassis" questions on this forum, I would guess, but there still aren't more than a handful every week.

No need for individual model forums, there are a lot of models covered in here and usually pretty slow responses, sometimes as few as one or two per day. Later.
