It takes about 30 seconds for the glow plug light to go off.

Check 2 things:

1. Loosen the hard injector lines at the injectors. Crank the engine. Fuel should leak at the connections. If not, you have a fuel problem, either air in the system, no fuel in the tank, plugged filters, or a bad delivery pump on the side of the main injection pump.

2. Turn the key on and check for voltage at the glow plugs. This car should have the series style system, which mean the voltage will drop as it goes through each plug, until it is zero where it grounds to the block at #1. If the light does not go out or does not come on, sounds like you could have a glow plug system issue. Might want to also take off all the glow plug connector links and clean them up nice and shiny to make sure you have a good electrical contact.
