w114, adjusting the idle speed question

I've been looking over this
The Zenith Carburetor: The MB Adjustment Manual

My car is idling a bit high and engages the transmission pretty hard when going from park to drive. I want to tone down the idle but I don't want to screw up the synchro on my carbs.

From what I've read here I understand that I can tone down the fast idle without messing up the synchro. Is this correct?
