71 280 sel timing problem?

Hi, I have a 1971 280 sel in perfect condition, just purchased it and had it running , I went and changed the wires ,plugs and points to give it a tune up and now it just turns over ,has spark but won't fire.is the firing order on the block #1 2 3 4 5 6 and on the distributor cap is it clockwise or counter clockwise? This benz sat in a heated garage for 30 + years and is excellent condition so i would like to get it running and enjoy the summer with it.It is a 6cyl 2.8. If anyone can help that would be great Thanks.

Check to see if you mixed up the wires. Been there.

I would suspect that your points closed up on you. Re-check and re-adjust.

I for got which way the rotor turns, just crank the engine and watch the direction that it turns. The firing order should be on the valve cover 1, 5, 3, 6, 2, 4. The front cylinder is #1.

If it's not broke it dosen't have enough features.
