I have the same question. I want to lower; just a bit my w114 250c. There
is a Mercedes guy out of Minnesota Sport Springs for Mercedes-Benz SL and Sedans
He will make custom springs for 'I think' most vintage Mercedes. He is a very
nice guy and has been working with Mercedes for a long time. However, they
are not cheap ($700) I also had seen some talk about spring clamps, but I
would be worried about squeaks, etc. Finally, I haven't looked yet, but I
know on later models, Mercedes put shims in to adjust the height. I know in
my 93 300e that is the case and you can buy the thinner shims and that will
lower the car a bit. I don't think my 250c has that option, I have seen shims for my fintail, but again I am just starting to check on my options. I am almost at the stage with my 250c restoration and I think the custom springs look like
a great answer, however 1 don't know if my car can justify the expense. The
old earrings on a pig thing!
I know some will cut springs, but that seems a bit much and I don't want to
potential mess up the ride.
Keep me posted on what you find
