OM617 Cranking Slow, Not Firing
I have a '76 300D, was running until fall, lost trans fluid & parked for winter. Just now replaced radiator & added fluid, 65 degree weather, attempted to start, but cranking very slow. Installed new starter, freshened contacts on all grounds, checked neutral switch, removed all glow-plugs to release compression, even jumped direct to starter with fresh 1,650 CCA truck battery, still cranking slow regardless of all the above... Can this be result of transmission/torque converter locked up?
Would separating trans from engine free drag from engine?
If I find this works to start the engine, any suggestions on the trans/converter?
