The question was also regarding the front end sitting low. Nothing wrong with checking the subframe mounts. Very easy to tell if they are shot. The MB is a 1973 and unless he has records indicating a subframe mount replacement within the last 15 years it is highly recommended to replace such mounts. I have personally never had a problem with springs but maybe someone out there has. Subframe mounts made of world of a difference on my 1970 280 sel. Rubber parts failing is not a rare possibilty especially when you consider TIME(age), HEAT, RAIN, WEIGHT, bumps, pot holes etc....
