need advice on buying 1968 230 finback

one of the employees at my job has parked a faded white 1968 finback model 230 mercedes. He says it has under 70k miles on it, and the odo says 68K.

Interior seats, headliner, etc all are in excellent condition and original. Outside paint is original or an old repaint, all oxidized but the chrome is not pitted anywhere, no rust.

This is in a northern state and these 2wd cars are usually garaged for six months of the year while owners drive trucks.

what do you think of this model year? i would have to get a MB mechanics inspection of course.

Thinking of it for a car to drive locally, not a daily driver. Are there things a mechanic needs to particularly check on this model?

what would you say is fair value for the car? Apart from the oxidized paint, the body integrity and interior are really good. Not sure I can believe the low miles, but this is in a rural state, and it may have just driven locally in this small town in the summer only.

any advice would be appreciated. I always thought the finbacks were especially well built and the seating very comfortable

Do you have pictures of the car? I haven't had any trouble yet trying to
find parts for mine which is a 67 w110. However the big question is
how handy you are and if you are interested in digging in. Mine was
in very rough shape to start and has needed alot of body work, but I
didn't really pay anything for mine. With that stated; it still ends up
costing plenty to make sure the car is reliable and safe.
