76 W115 300d shifts late

Just bought a 1976 W115 300d and it is shifting a little late. Also the engine keeps running after I turn it off sometimes. I think it might be the vacuum valve but I am not sure where it is located. I read I can adjust it to make it shift earlier or later but I am not sure how. Any help would be great. Other than that she runs like a champ and Its probably the best car I have ever owned. Thanks for any advice and happy driving!

Yes you can adjust shift points, on the passenger side of the motor down under the exhaust manifold you will see a pivot with 2 pieces of linkage connected to it. Take loose the piece of linkage closest to the motor and make it shorter(might be longer can't remember). Just play around with it the linkage length until it shifts like you want it.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Just start blocking off circuits until you find the leak. Check the shut-off valve on the back of the injection pump, it should hold vacuum.
