This is a different car. This is a w109 car, the previous one was a w108 car. This is a very rare and desirable car too. However, a w108 car with m189 engine is a vary rare car to come across.

Where is this car? Czech ? How much?

You can find basic info on Wikipedia.org As far as why it is so special, WE TOOOOLDD YOUU M189 engine is a very special engine that went into some special cars....Cars with those engines had very limited production numbers... Usually the high end cars by Mercedes had received that engine: w112 300SE/L coupes/cabriolets and sedans. A few w109 cars had that engine and very few w108 car, very few. That engine is aluminum block and had originated from the legendary Mercedes 300SL Gullwing's engine (m186), a different version of it, you might want to say.

I checked on wikipedia and all it told me is that MB had produced around 2500 300SE/L between 1965 and 1967 in the W108 body. I was hoping for more in depth info like why it is a 1968 and not a 1967. Perhaps it was special ordered with the white leather interior and took longer to produce? I do not know if Mercedes could give me more info. The dealer had no record of the car and said it was a gray market. It has a low production number for the car and engine. 000450 (car) 000265 for the engine. I am going to pick up a 250se for parts, I think, and do some work to the car.

The car is a 1967 production car. The reason your title says 1968 is because it was first registered in 1968.... Same goes for the 250 model cars for w111 and w108 chassis. You will sometimes come across 1968 250 cars. But the production for 250's was 1966 and 1967, it's just some cars were FIRST registered in 1968.

You can request info on your car from the Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine, CA.... just give them a call and provide a VIN#

Please send me an email for a private message and I will fwd you the complete set of pictures from karl.imhof@vtxmail.ch <karl.imhof@vtxmail.ch>
I would own this car except I have 300SEL 4.5 and 6.3 's now.
This car is the best I have seen with no DOT stuff.
