Exclamation Why won't my window go up? Please help! It's raining!

I have a 1975 280C. The drivers side front window will go down, but it won't go back up. All of the other windows work fine (slow and a little off track, but fine). I have taken the door panel off and it seems that the 4 wires that power the window all have power going to them. (I used a meter to check)Also, all of the wires going to the switch have power. So what is going on? In checking it, I have pushed the down button a few times and now it is all the way down. What could be wrong?

I'm not sure where the fuse box to these wires are? does anyone know? The fuse box under the hood right in front of the drivers side has it's label, and non of them say "windows". My chilton's book has no info either. Is there another fuse box that I am missing?
Thanks very much! It keeps raining here and it is a pain to cover it all the time.

Sounds like the levers and whirligigs are binding and have jammed. If you can get the motor free, see if it spins when you close the switch. If you have juice at the switch and at the motor, it sounds like a mechanical hang-up (unless the motor is burned out).

I say all that without having the vaguest idea how the window winding mechanism inside the door works. I assume it's more or less like any other winding mechanism, so in my experience there is binding going on in the mechanics.

I hope that helps.

The motors on these old relics seldom fail unless there are other problems. If the window is still in the track, there is no binding or sloppiness/looseness, and the regulator is good, then I am placing my bet on the master window switch. On my 73 280C I got tired of taking them apart and fixing them, so I just recently replaced them all....two rears, and the two masters in the console. They're not too expensive and relatively easy to replace. In the meantime you can rapidly rock the affected switch back and forth (between up and down) applying more pressure to the up side. This will sometimes get it to work. Contact Rick or Andy at Import Parts Specialists, http://www.importpartsspec.com/cart/default
Rick is especially knowledgeable with the older Benz's and can definitely help you out. Tell him Adrian referred you. Good luck and keep us posted.
