I have a 1980 380 SL that has been sitting for about five years.
The last time I drove it the engine and drive train were fine.
Everything worked including the air. The tires are good and inflated.
There is a soft and hard top. The body is ok except for a dent at the
edge of one fender. The paint and upholstery need restoration. It will
start and run for a few seconds if I put a starter booster in the intake.
I think the fuel lines are plugged. The engine sounds fine.
I would like to sell it but have no idea what I should ask. Any help with a fair price reccomendation would be appreciated.
OK, so you have a 1980 380 SL with tires that are at least 5 years old, that ran 5 years ago except now it doesn't run except on starter fluid, oh and it needs paint and interior. If you aren't planning on getting it running before selling it, I would say less than $5000. If you are planning on getting the fuel system cleaned out and getting the car running again, probably closer to 10,000. You didn't mention the rust, if any, number of miles, etc.
