The "Red pig"
Yesterday I went to my lokal MB dealer and on a shelf I found a litle model car collection, mostly new boring cars but one stand out from the crowd. A angry red little thing. Not only was it the first MB i ever seen in red but its was coverd in racing decals to! Two not so comon things when we talk Mercedes...
No one at the dealer knew what it was or if it was based on a real car so I turned to my old friend Google when i came home. Now i know it was the car that AMG did a few races with.
This is what I fund on Wikipedia:
"AMG's so-called "Red pig" finished 2nd in the 24 Hours of Spa in 1971. This heavy vehicle with 6834 cc and 420 hp (313 kW) was fast, but frequent refuelling was necessary, and tire wear was also high. The car was sold to French company Matra, they used it for tests of jet fighter landing gear."
Is this true? I dont trust Wiki...
I know that this car was based on a w109 300SEL body and the engine was taken from a 600 limo or somthing. Buts thats about al I know. Does anyone know more about it? Pic of the REAL car and not the clones? knowledge about what the had done to the engine, suspension and the interior?
Some day I have to build myself one.. Not a clone of the real one a w108/9 racingcar...
Excuse my spelling
