w189 300d Adanauer info

since I rescued one of these beasts in 1982 and repaired it myself and drove and maintained it for over 10 years when i foolishly sold it, have the factory service manuals, chassis and running gear.
I am offering to go on the cross as it were with repair tips and help as I can remember.
mine was a 1961 300d (2nd version) 4 speed stick with no power stearing, green on green with leather buckets and sun roof. 1st sold to the Berlin American Embassy, Then to a LT Commander attached to the Embassy. Shipped to Norfolk, then driven to Long Beach back and forth 2 times. He still
owned the car in 1978, but it went to a friend (not running). I bought it from the widow in 82, fixed the injection pump, brakes, gas tank, battery, tires and cosmetics, then drove it for 10 years. It was shwn at the Pebble Beach Concorse dElegance. Wish i still had it. one of the very few stick shift 300's

Yes, we do. Sometimes a few of them. Let the memories live on...
Photographs & videos help. And from experience so do personal websites. Or even blogs and the forums like many members here.
Got your pic Dave... thanks for the email.

Hi Dave,

I have recently had to replace the vacuum diaphram in the Bosch PES6Kl70/320R9/22 fuel injector pump of my MB 1958 w189 300d.
Prior to this repair the engine ran fine, now it is running very rich.
I have isolated all of the senders that richen the mixture one at a time and had no significant improvement.
I am of the opinion that the problem may be centrifical weights inside the pump.

Do you have any experience advise on these pumps?

I have 4 pages from a MB 300d manual on the fuel system which does not have an exploded diagram of the injector pump and unfortunately the rest is in German.
Do you have or know where I could get a comprehensive manual of the fuel system and any other 300d manual chapters in English ?

PS. I found my 300d in a carport under a tarp in Adelaide South Australia. It was sold new in Seaira Leone, was auctioned in London 1987, sold to an Australian in 1990 who shipped it to Aust. It is red leather and black, auto and 21,000mls only.

I tried to find information on the Bosch website:
Bosch Automotive Tradition - Knowledge
but a cursory search didn't produce anything. Maybe if you send them a mail, they might come up with information.

Usually work on the injection pump is left to the Bosch-people (with test equipment), you're very brave that you do it yourself.
