Paul Bracq's designs?

Just brainstorming and soliciting feedback as well as a bit of DB history...

A number of sources (such as heckflosse.nl) indicate Paul Bracq designed the 111 coupes as early as 1957. Paul Bracq’s timeline also reveal he was employed at DB from 1957-1967 and participated in the design of the 230SL Pagode, the 220S Coupe, the 250, the 600, and the 220D.

From the hecklosse.nl site:
The first design sketches by Paul Bracq were drawn up in 1957. They looked little different from the sedans, the only real difference was the lack of rear doors, they still had very prominent 'fins'on the back and the front windscreen showed the American influence once again. These things all disappeared when the design studies went on.

What exactly were all the chassis in which Paul Bracq was involved in from a design standpoint? And did the famous carossier design (whether whole or partial) the 111 coupes? Please share any literature or verifiable information you may have… Thanks!

I have an old issue of MB Classic and ME in which covers Paul Bracq's artwork... I'll share those once I find the issues.

I know for sure that Bracq was involved with the W108/109, W100, W111/W112, and W114/115.

For the ones reading French, here is an interesting summary of Bracq's contribution to MB models: Paul Bracq chez Mercedes-Benz - Histoire Motorlegend.com

Contraritly to what I wrote in an earlier post, Bracq is indeed the father of the W111 Coupés/Cabriolets. He also designed the W113, the W100, W108/109 and W114/115.

I still have 2 w111's in my garage, both 68's 1 250se, n 1 280se both primrose
and saddle tan. my wife drives a 300 TDT wagon (81) I maintain for her
and my 420SEL is gold with 15"Centra's n white walls (which like ladies in heels-I miss on
most cars today) and a chrome fender line strip from front to back on both sides like the old 300's.

Thanks gentlemen. I had 99% faith in Paul Bracq all along... just needed some wise wisdom from the vintage folks.
And I found my issue: A few quotes from MB Classic 1Q 2009 - Maître carossier article & interview with Paul Bracq

"The fact is, however, his contract also required him to draw existing models. But when it came to detail he implemented several design modifications, as in the case of the shapely coupe from the W111 Fintail series. The successful design of the rear wing, for example, is ascribed to Paul Bracq."

"Bracq also worked on the W108/109 series that followed the Fintail, giving visible prominence to 4 principles of his approach to design: (1) well-balanced proportions, (2) a continuous line running from front to rear to subdivide the sidewall and simultaneously emphasize length, (3) a low set waistline to accommodate large glazed areas, (4) and wheels fitted in their housings in such a way as to appear flush with the body's outer edge."

You may not be interested in his non-M-B contributions, but Bracq was head of design for BMW during their critical period of growth in the early '70s.

He was personally responsible for the Turbo Concept (predecessor to the legendary M1):

More importantly, he designed the E21 3-series, the E12 5-series, the E24 6-series, and the E23 7-series. These are the cars that redefined the BMW model line-up, which continues to this day.

Oh yes I do... next to the Star, I am also a Roundel fan.
Speaking of bimmers... here's mine I had a few years of fun with and still occasionally miss.

The M1 is pure sex.

I also used to have one. Same color, too. I got rid of it to buy my Evo VIII. Various Lancer Evolutions (especially the Evo III RS and Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition) had been my dream cars for years, so I jumped at the Evo VIII when it hit the market here in 2003.

The M1 was done by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design. But it was clearly based on Bracq's Turbo Concept. I find the original Bracq design a bit more graceful than the more angular M1. However, an M1 in ProCar/Gruppe 4 trim is really something else. Brutal.
