I think injectors do not have polarity and work the same way if you switch polarity. If this is correct, you should not worry too much about the injectors' wiring loom.

That pagoda ad auto-kromm is incredible!!! It was also posted on the m-100 board.

Is that the 4.5 fintail with a 5 speed manual gearbox?

I really like the set-up in that ignition distributor. How much do they sell that?

ignition

There is a guy on the triject forum which have made this type of optical trigger for his Citroen DS (23 for U), he mailed me his number but I have to contact him the next days. But I have the layout of the trigger found on another page so in any case I will made it. For the MSII I am not shure if it is necessary to have a eletrical stabilisation like he designed or if the 5 V out from the MS II is stable to use it with a LED and sensor, but we will see. The triggerwheel is no problem, i will have laser cutted it by a friend here in Vicenza, it is a CNC program so if it works I can reproduce it.

Trigger:
http://www.molla.org/DIY-CDI/DIY-CDI...a%3DN%26um%3D1

The whole histronic kit comes about 2500.-Euro, not bad, there is a kit for the 6.3 and 6.9 but although for BMW 3.0CSI!

Why can't we get in contact with the MS team directly, if you think that are so many D-jet cars (Mercedes BMW Porsche Vw Saab Vovo ) why not creat an optical trigger for al this cars, the distributer is Bosch with the Injectorcontacts and the temperature sensors and Bosch TPS will be the same for all af them. The best injectors would be 4-hole injectors and all this motors running in semi sequential mode.

The shop for the Bushings is near to my home town. I haven't the time at chrismas to go there, but I will be there in 3 weeks.

My coupe is Metallic Moss Green-kinda hard to see in the poor picture. I like the EDIS system because it totally dispenses with the distributor and the Megasquirt is set up to manage it. I have had a crank trigger wheel made. That way the Megasquirt and ignition will be timed by the most accurate source possible-the crankshaft.

G76/27 A5 Tranny

Yesterday I opened my tranny, the rare 76/27 A5, normaly used in the 300 SEL 3.5 in Europe for the governments cars (less rumor in Autobahn). Some 3.5 Coupe of VIP and some 350 SL (1 known in germany) had it, too. Mine came from down under (gullwing), it was in a 300 SEL 3.5.
I opend it yesterday, and for my surprise ther was all good inside. So I have to change the bearings (SKF or FAG), add a second key on th 5-gear on the countershaft and use roller-cylinderbearings an the countershaft, not the OM-once. Because on the packaging they are roller-bearings but in there are ball-bearings which cannot support the axial forces of the not straight cut gears.
I made som picks.
Next the engine, it had 70000km on the clock but...? I want to lightend the fly-wheel and balance all. The heads have to be ported (anyone experience on this type of motor?) and cut the valve-guides like the AMG-Engines. The inlet manifold will be ported with a steel-ball-guide (38 mm, if I remember wright?) that have to pass in there.

Congratulations! How many teeth on your input shaft pinion? One of the bearings (down left) seems to be a roller bearing...

Yesterday was a good day. I drove to Roanoke VA and bought that 5 speed I talked to you about. It was sold o me as a rebuilt unit. I took the side cover out and all looked OK inside with new synchros. I will take it apart in a few days to install the V8 inputshaft, constant gear and front cover. I will also do the same mods you qre doing.

I'm looking for that rear bracket that holds the rear of the trans on the crossmember. If someone has one or knows where I can find one, let me know.

Pagodino, I see your coupe in the background. Could you take and post pictures from top and bottom of the brackets you welded in to hold the anti-dive system? I would like to have an idea of what is involved befor starting haking mine...

Thanks!

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

you guys are awesome!

I love the engine conversions youve done chaps - just awesome. I love the idea of fitting a modern engine into a classic coupe.

I have just taken delivery of my w111 sedan today - it is a bit rough at the moment with the body work. The engine has been replaced in the past as it is has a diesel. I havent fired it but noticed after filling the radiator with water that there was a water leak coming from the engine where the fan rotar fits into the engine block - any ideas?

Im now thinking should i upgrade my baby but just dropping a more modern engine into it? im not a mechanic so will have to give it to someone to do but if i were to embark on this journey what engine and tranny would you recommend i fit into it which would be easiest to do? i know i can get hold of a E220 engine and autobox from a W124 cheap. What about the 4.5 engine from a 1976 SEL?

would i need to change the drive shafts/ brakes etc??

kudos to you geniuses here - very inspiring!

I have been helping a guy (via email) with his 250 SE coupe and the installation of a AMG supercharged V6. With ABS,ESP etc it will be a classically styled coupe with 2010 dynamics.
Instead of hassling around with the old swing axle and and swapping crown wheel sets etc I suggested swapping in a W124 diff assembly. Instead he has used a W201 assembly to take advantage of the ABS sensor . It's very easy to install these later diffs, I don't have any pictures ( the owner wants to keep it quiet...) but a cross member is welded under the trunk floor and two mounts are welded to support the front of the diff assembly.
The front end has disc rotors from the AMG with it's huge rotors and calipers and those who have worked on the V6 will know that the oil pan is at the wrong end of the engine so ....in the 1st picture there is a clue.

Those familiar with the W111 Chassis will see how the engine was fitted in . It will outperform a lot of V8 coupes because of the lighter engine .
i am hoping to get started soon on my project which will include this car and this engine in the 2nd and 3rd pics.
i would like to get pictures of a Autoschmiede conversion. I did have some pictures of a bare shell taken at Essen some years ago but I lost them. Does any body have anthing like that? I want to work out how they did the cowl etc .
