What a learning experience this whole thing has been for me. WOW.. now im really excited I just showed my roommate a picture of the engine on the 280SE 4.5 engine trouble, and he noticed in the picture that their are fuses in the boxes, and so now were going to take the plate off to replace the fuses!!!! I feel like a little boy in a candy store... HA

Hi Benz. My 72 280se 4.5 has a fuel pump fuse up under the dash. I had to replace my intermittant faulty fuel pump relay recently. You can pick up a 12 volt relay at radio shack cheap. The relay is under the ecu on the front passenger side behind headlight. it has silver cover. you can see it with a mirror. I replaced mine with a relay activated by ignition switch voltage. I have bypassed the initial 2 second turn on/ off sequence. Mine now turns on with key. Works great. Just wouldn't want to leave the key on.

Help me with my 72' 280SE 4.5 Please!!

I have a 1972 Mercedes 280SE 4.5 and live in Garland. When I got it it would not run due to gas sitting in the tank for a couple of years. I pulled the tank, cleaned and vatted it, cleaned the filter, cleaned the fuel pump, replaced all the rubber lines going to the tank and fuel pump and reinstalled everything. I tried starting it and it ran fine except it was a bit sluggish. It ran that way for several weeks. After the very first cold spell we had the car refused to start up again?? I have tried everything including pulling trigger points and cleaning them, cleaning all contacts on fuel pump relay, cleaning switches etc. I am getting spark but no fuel now. I am getting good fuel pressure to the rails but the injectors are not firing. Any help on this would be great. I would love to be able to drive it around this spring!
