Do you mean best, or best prices, or best delivery times or ???

What kind of engine-parts ?
If it's pistons, rockers, oil pan or other original main parts, then it's likely that you need to buy original on most parts..
If it's waterpump, gaskets, seals or filters, then there's many company's to choose from.
I have several orders from autohaus.com wich I was very pleased with..
Maybe they have the parts needed ?

1991 W140 400 SE - SOLD !!
1973 W115 200 -For sale as project.

I watch eBay. If you have the time some real bargains can be found there.

If it's not broke it dosen't have enough features.

I've been buying stuff from Rusty Cullens and crew for more than 10 years (they have a new web address that the forum apparently blocks -- it now ends with biz instead of com). They own and drive older MBs themselves, and Rusty can get factory-only parts at discount. His site has an online catalog, but the best feature of dealing with Rusty is that when you call or send an instant message, you can talk to someone who knows the cars and their quirks.

I have the same car as you

The ones I use are:

http://www.autohausaz.com/index.html

http://www.rmeuropean.com/mercedes-parts.aspx#Category

http://www.europartsdirect.com/

BMW Parts, VW Parts & European Auto Parts| Racing Pro Shop - Above All Motorwerks

But mostly I just use the top two, its good to compare prices though...

I check ebay every week, just search "mercedes 220s" (you'll get some of the older 1959 models, but if you type 1964 it'll filter out almost everything). A few weeks ago I got a brand new master cylinder for $100... thought that was pretty good...

I vote for Autohaus also. I have used them for about 8 years and never had a problem. If you need some dealer only parts Mercedes-Benz of Eugene sells parts for at least 1/3 less that any dealer I have seen. They have a on line pars catalog-just plug in the MB part # and it gives you price and availability. I could not find inner valve springs anywhere and got them sent from Germany for $4 each.
