1979 240D automatic - was this vacuum or not for this year?

I'm trying to decide about a vehicle sight unseen that is equipped with an automatic transmission. I recall someone saying that the 1979 models of the 240D did not have the problems with shifting due to the non vaccum setup. Any insights would be appreciated. My first choice is a manual. But this is a clean vehicle for the price.

I think US models of the W123 only got vacuum-controlled transmissions from model year 1980.
