Hmmmm. I don't know if my experience is related or not. I have the Petronix electronic ignition thing inside the distributor. One nasty problem with it is that if you leave the key on without the engine running for a few hours it will fry the unit. I don't know how long you can leave it on without frying stuff, I am not going to find out either.
