Question RE: Sunroof swap

I have a question regarding the sliding roof in a W111 coupe.

Is it possible to replace an electrically operated sliding roof with a Webasto manual sliding roof?

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated!

Well it would be very hard to find a complete and decent Webasto sunroof to fit to your car. Besides, the Webastos were mainly on sedans and are too large for a coupe roof. You may want to check out They have different sizes and options and do mimic the Webastos of the early days.

On another note, the Webasto company is still in business and is making different sliding canvas tops and glass tops. However, they are very very expensive.

P.S. You do know that you have to cut an opening on your roof, right?
Not to mention that you will depreciate your coupe's value.
My 2 cents

I think what genever is talking about is the stock metal sliding roof made by Webasto and fitted to tons of early W111 coupes from the factory, not the Webasto canvas soft slid/fold used mainly by the aftermarket. Webasto was the supplier of most if not all manual and electric roofs in MB's
Back to the original question...My guess is you could do it if you had all the parts from a manual installation,,, but I would first measure the opening and make sure that is exactly the same and inspect all the slides etc. and see if it could be done,,, may bolt directly in..good luck..
