1973 SE280 4.5 Hazard Lights (Flasher) Relay Replacement

Hi,
I bought a replacement relay to fix the turn signal blinking too fast issue and I want to install it myself. Does anyone know where the relay is located on my car? I read it is somewhere behind the dash. I looked around but couldn't find it. The hazard light switch is a big red square button under the speedo, is this where the relay is located? How do I get to it?
Thank you for the tips!

It is either on the firewall under the hood or over your left knee when you sit in the driver's seat. If under the dash you must remove the trim panel under the dash.

Turn Signal

If your turn signal blinks too fast one of your bulbs is out. This is usually one of the rear bulbs and they are easily replaced.

Turn signal Relay on the early model 450 SL - SLC

Turn signal Relay on the early model 450 SL - SLC is in the left Dash behind the Gage cluster. Just replaced the one on my 1975 450SL and yes I looked in all the other places Posted first.

Sorry but the flasher relay is not in the console or part of the Flasher switch.
In all three of my cars it is behind Instruments cluster in the left side of the dash.
My cars are a 75 450 SL - 73 450SLC and 73 280SEL the only one of my cars this is not true on is my 65 190C it has a different flasher.

Have you checked for a burned out bulb? It's a lot simpler than replacing the relay, and it's more likely the cause of your problem.

No Sorry all bulbs are working - it is a bad flasher relay - I have 3 cars so I pulled the 2 other units - unit 1 made a noise like a buzzer and lights remained lit but not flashing. unit 2 made a very rapid flashing like a strobe lite, and unit 3 worked normally.

So these units can fail and make buzzer like noises and flash fast with all bulbs working.
I leaned some new things with this adventure.
Thanks for the info
