Original Paint Restoration

Hi there,
I have 1973 280SE 4.5 with original paint (navy). The paint is in overall ok shape but there are a lot of tiny spiderweb scratches and it looks pretty dull, there is also a lot of wax build up. I am trying to find a good shop in the DC area capable of working on a 36 year old paint to bring back the luster. I do not want to do the repaint as the car looks good as is and there is no rust. I am also not comfortable with taking it to a regular detail shop as I am afraid they may damage the old paint. Can someone recommend anybody in the DC area to tackle this?

You either have to find that one-in-a-million shop who'll do the car as well as you'd like, or you'll have to do it yourself. I used to have a guy in Houston who did a perfect job, but I've had ten guys since then who do worse than I could. Now I just do it myself.

Thanks for the replies. I anticipated it would come to something along the lines of: "If you want good results, do the job yourself.." Sounds like it's time to invest into some quality detailing products and get my hands dirty.
I did some research and decided to buy these 2 kits from Detailed Image:
DI Packages Flex XC3401VRG Advanced Package | Detailed Image
DI Packages Polish and Protection Advanced Kit | Detailed Image
I purchased a few of their products in the past and was always impressed with the results. I also plan on using their step by step instructions on the polishing process since I am a complete novice when it comes to polishing.

I'll try to document the before and after results and share with the community.
