1977 fuel pump question

What amount of pressure (LB's) is my fuel pump supposed to be producing? I know American made stuff is 75, but the regulator valve seems to be causing low pressure.
If I have to replace the pump, can I use something else instead of paying the $225 for a new one?

The Bosch pumps on these systems produce 35 to 40 PSI pressure with a normally functioning pressure regulator.

I have been able to use bosch pumps that look similar (fittings and size) of Volvos, BMWs, Saabs or anything from this vintage that came with the Bosch fuel injection system.

These aftermarket pumps are on Ebay new between 40 and 50 dollars.
