Air suspension questions

I am the owner of a 1962 mercedes 190c 4spd. I am really debating; pretty much convinced I want to put air ride into it. I have done some research, and heard it was fairly easy to get a system on there. Replace the coils run your lines and your on the home stretch. But here comes the hard part. Find a kit that will fit. What do I buy and from where. Heard not to buy from
PLease help me out!

Forget it, first, it is not easy, second it is a calibrated system, i.e. you would have to re-engineer the proportioning valve.

Consider a W109 either in the 4.5 version or 6.3
4.5 is a more practical motor, the 6.3 is the monster.

Please don't bother with air suspension of any kind. It would be best to rebuild your wziating coil spring suspension, new bushings, kinkpin overhaul, engine and trans mounts, drivehasft flexdisk, center bearing, rear axle bushings and a brake overhaul. New Bilstein shocks would be good too.

Your model is not a powerful car and it's meant for economy.

The air suspensioned cars, the W109 and W112, are designed and built with air suspension. The components are hard to find now and expensive. One benefit of the factory system is it is completely automatic, which means you don't have to make any adjustments unlike the add on ones where you have to run the pump and manually adjust the height.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

I would guess you mean to customise the car and not retro fit OE merc stuff. if you live in the UK check out the latest 'Retro cars' mag there is a fab merc in there

so I shouldn't even bother customizing the car? Are you trying to say it won't work and just end up falling apart. I don't wanna go radical with it. Just have a minor lower and more comfortable stance on the car.

You could I suppose remove all the original Air suspension parts from a 60's fintail W112 300SE which came from the factory with Air suspension,, and they may bolt directly onto to your fintail.. but what a nightmare, cannot fathom why anyone would want to,,take a good simple reliable car and turn it into a fragile finicky trickster. Why not just go and buy something with EAS already on it?
