LA Newbi says hello!!

hello everyone!

these forums a great and crazy helpful.

i am currently enjoying my new 72 280se 4.5. it needs some work but as of now i am loving it. i just hope it doesn't get too crazy expensive to keep it running. I have already had to replace the gaskets and the compensator. I just found a hole in my radiator and my stearing box is leaking...this is going to be an adventure.

Welcome jwalk, I'm also in LA. I've been able to get almost any parts I need from local junkyards. You can save a lot of money that way. There are tons of old mercs around so parts are generally easy to find.

Welcome jwalk. If you Google "W108" you'll find a couple of owner's forums that will help you get to know your car and give you valuable advice like Benzworld does later models.

I had a long wheelbase version of the car you bought over 20 years ago. It was my first MB, and still remains one of my favorite cars of all time. The W108 is IMO one of the most timeless and handsome sedans MB has made. My current W220 is (IMO again) one of the most handsome "modern" sedans, but it lacks the classic beauty of the W108. I'm still enamored with my new (to me) R129, and it is a classic in its own right, but the stacked headlights and imposing grille of the W108 is hard to top.

Congratulations. Let us see the old girl when you can.
