Some of the gear teeth do break and can either be repaired or replaced.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

odometer gear replacement

I just finished mine about 20 minutes ago. It was incredibly easy. I ordered the gears at Odometer Gears | 72 Croatan Road | Newport News, VA 23606 | 757.593.3478. Cam in in a few days. Downloaded his directions. Says it should take about 2 hours. It took 1 hour 15 minutes, including the 10 minute test drive. Start to finish. Working perfectly. I hear new they are $1600. My aftermarket mercedes mechanic offered to take it out and ship it somewhere to be fixed then reinstall the cluster. I would have had to rent a car for who knows how long and he wanted to charge $400. Did it myself, quickly, and only for $50. I am gushing cause I am so thrilled.
