Dad's Old 1965 250 Fintail
I got a call from a lady who wanted to know what her late father's car might be worth. I could tell that she really was asking because she wanted to sell it. Her mother had no interest in it and it had sat up for six years in the garage. After looking at the photos and seeing the obvious signs of rust on the bumpers, rockers and fenders, I said it might be worth $4,000 if someone really want an old finback. She was disappointed that it was not worth more than that since it was a European delivery car, etc. etc. Anyway the mother decides to have Joe Shmo's FIX-IT-ALL Garage do the work to get it running. Maybe it's worth more running? Okay, Joe's head guy drains the fluids, refills them and fires it up. All is well. The happy owner comes to drive it away and it won't shift! Joe's head guy did not refill the tranny with fluid. Okay now it's ready--again. This time they back it out and hit a telephone pole because there was an air bubble in the brake line. Joe's insurance may pay her the $4,000 but who knows. The damage is estimated at $5,500!
Let a Mercedes-Benz mechanic do the work and save yourself the pain if you have a project like this please! Your expense will be paid back two times over. The GM-Ford-Chrysler mechanic does not need to turn a wrench on these old cars!!!!
