Chasis Number Confusion

Hey again.

So, I bought the MB Service manual for my 65 220. Went to confirm the chasis number and now confused by the chasis on the CD and whats on the Block.

Chasis # on the car is 111.012. A 220 sb.

The CD has no 012 for the 111 on the 220. Only the .010 for the 220b, .014 for the Seb, .021 for the Seb Coupe and .023 for Seb Cab.

The only 111.012 is for the 230Sb.

Could this be a 66 rather than the 65? Any clear way to distinguish between the two.

Doubt this makes little difference for the manual but still pretty baffled.

Here's some pics of the car - I've posted enough, you should know what it looks like.

I have the service CD for my 65 220S. All the W111 sedans are the same except for carbs or fuel injection. If you look at the material inside, the 220Sb is included.

I can't figure out why the 230S is a W111.010 when it's more like a 220Sb. The 220b, 111.010, has two single barrel carbs and smaller taillights.

Be aware, the service section of the manual for our cars is really a suplement for the Ponton cars, the previous model.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

Great info.

I helped rebuild a Pontoon with a friend a while back, which got me hooked on mechanics. Had the Service Manual and got lost over the years.

CD's are great resources, but no comparison,
