I finally got hold on a better used thermostat housing after a long search...I mounted it and it seems to work except that the warmstart problem persists...

I don´t actually know what to do next?

Sorry, I didnt remember. See if your cold start valve is leaking. Take it out when it is warm, and plug the opening wit duct tape and re-start the engine. If it leaks, you need another one.

Other ideas; valves tight, injection pump idle mixture adjustment needs leaned out or enrichened, (wheel on back of it) clockwise is lean, counter is rich, only do 1 or two clicks at a time. You really need to buy a shop manual.

Well, with the look of that housing you may have had coolant leaking into the guts of the injection pump. There is a plunger under the long pin that cuts off additional air during warmup. The plunger should move freely and if stuck, the housing needs to be removed, disassembled, cleaned and possibly honed.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant

With all due respect, the pump has no cold-start air control function. The thermostat is pretty much self-sealin, and coolant in the pump is a remote possibility.

I would run a can of 44k in a tank of fuel and clean all the varnish out of the system before doin anythin else. Varnish can wreak havoc on mechanical injection systems.

I sorted my cold start problem by repacing the air- flow mass meter. It waas tkaing the wrong reading and passing it on to ICU - replaced it with a cheaper Chinese make, a 1/5th of the price with 12 months warranty - lets see how it goes.

You can put the warm-up regulator device issue to rest very easily. Remove the little air cleaner. Start the engine cold. Put your finger over the hole, and you should feel suction from the extra air being pulled in to raise the idle. This will diminish as the engine warms. When the engine is warmed up, there should be no suction.

If there is suction when warm, then that is a problem. The extra air is causing a lean condition.

Please do this check and report, as the next steps are more complicated.
