Shell: I've heard of extra fast wear of camshafts, valve rattle and oil consumption..
Depending on driver, location, engine and of course age of car.. Never used any shell oils myself. There were also several problems with different kinds of petrol some years ago..
Depending on how much you drive, it could be an idea to change oil two times/year..
Regular change intervals were closer to 5.000km on the older cars.. But since the oils are much cleaner today, 10k should be fine..
-3 Celsius isn't that bad.. Try -20 C...
But of course that's extreme differences in one day..
I would think 15-40, 15-50 or 20-50 in the summer, and 10-40 or 5-40 in winter could be one possiblity.. ?
But 10-40 is a good all-rounder really..
