I'm with the other people that think regular highway speeds are alright (60mph maybe a bit more) because i could see how well my '67 200 did and it was only the 200.

The fanbelt thing is pretty important! Also common sense and a bit of problem solving skills, maybe a bike pump in case you have a tire that likes to leak a bit.

I don't know about the comment about cell phones, maybe american highways have better cell reception, but lots of the highways up here simply DON'T have cell coverage until you get to a city.

Plan your route as close to older MB ( as well as Indy ) garages/workshops as possible. Check with MB's Road Assistance programme along your route for said garages/workshops, good idea to check with members on this site too.

Plan your route and put it on this site, perhaps you can also request members here ( I am sure many would only be too willing to help, request and keep their mobile nos and addresses ) for assistance in case of any problem. You will end up making many new friends. As some members have suggested, a fan belt and critical rubber parts are a must.

Whatever it takes you must make this trip. Keep a digital camera and post pictures of your trip for all of us.

Drive safe and Bon Voyage !
From beautiful and exotic India.
