Would 107 116 rear diff pinion and crown fit in a W108 4.5 rear axle?

Hi all,

I would like to know if the pinion and crown od the 107 and 116 rear differentials will fit the earlier W108 4.5 swing rear axle. My objective is to get a lower ratio (I could fiddle with the internals of a 6.3 rear diff but they are hard to find).

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I think not. It's a totally different casting. I don't believe a 6.3 R&P will fit in a 4.5 axle either. I think 3.27 is as low as you can get but I could be mistaken. I have a 3.27 rear axle in my coupe and the RPM is around 2500 at 60MPH.

4 speed. I have heard or read that the 3.5L coupe was never offered with a 5 speed.
