Post 74 240D

I have a 74 240d that i runs like a top but i cannot get it to shut off properly. push in the fuel/start valve and turn off the key but it still runs and will so for over an hour (i tried it one day) anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Hmmm, forgot the name of the specific part but that happened to my W123 300d before. It's something related to a vacuum. Replace that part and that should do it.

74 240D has a cable which goes from the gorilla knob to the IP. I would check for the tension on the actuating cable attached to the IP. Chances are it's not moving.

1977 - W116 - 6.9
1974 - W115 - 240D /8 - 4(M) OM617.910 + Turbo + 300D FW - Completed 7/8/10

i had the same problem- only the rubber that holds the cable was rotted off the bracket. a new one is 70 bucks and a couple hours
