W123 wheel swap

Will 16" rims off of a 1999 clk320 fit on w123 models, specifically 300td? I believe they have a 38mm offset, but am not positive. And if spacers were added, would it mess with the steering or suspension?

I put 17's on my W114 and not only did it look iffy but it made it tramline really badly, gone back to the original wheels now.

I may not be a total purist (since I did slap on D93s on my W123 before) but as i soon realized, you can never go wrong with OE rims.

At the most, choose amongst the MB tuner brands that is of the same period as the 123.
