The grounding wire nearest the firewall goes on top of the ceramic cap. I think it goes ceramic, the bar, then the ground wire, then the nut holding it together.
It depends on the temperature for startup. There is no light! It's just an extra glow plug in the dash. I would say 30 seconds or so if at 70F or more.
It's a series connection so any one connection break makes the system inoperable.
If you could provide a photo of your car that would help resolve the layout much faster.
