I would use silver electrode plugs by "Nology". I have a set in my '77 230 now and have had a set in my '90 124 for a few years. You already have resistors in each plug wire end cap. Why add resistor plugs? Besides, Platinum and Iridium are actually poor conductors. The only reason these metals are used in plugs today is that modern cars are all equipped with much higher energy ignition systems than found in our cars and the electrode erosion rate is much slower than steel or copper plugs, thus delivering better performance (less pollution from misfire) over the long haul. The concern with these plugs is that with the thinner center electrode and weaker spark of old design ignition systems, the spark will literally be blown out at higher speed. That is why Mercedes STILL DOES NOT RECOMMEND Platinum or Iridium plugs for their older, low energy ignition system cars. The Pertronix unit eliminates the need for points but does not make the system a high energy ignition system. You could use other less expensive brand spark plugs with steel or copper electrodes. Read more about the advantages of non-resistor silver electrode plugs at the website below:
